Did you know… Leg Length Difference is a common cause of back, hip, knee and even neck pain?
Leg Length Difference is one of the first things we check when a client comes to see us.
It’s not ‘normal’, but it’s more common than you think.
It can be structural (one leg is physically longer than the other) or functional (it looks that way because of tight muscles or a rotated pelvis, for example).
Either way, it can put more strain on the joints and muscles in the body.
Often it’s the main reason for pain, stiffness and even arthritic changes in people’s back, hips and knees.
Even the neck can be affected because the body has to compensate by tilting the neck and shoulders.
You can’t diagnose leg length difference yourself, because there are different factors that have to be examined. But here are some clues that you may have it:
- Put your hand on top of your hip bones, does one side feel higher?
- The hems on your trousers wear out more on one side.
- The soles of your shoes wear down unevenly.
- You always tend to lean on one leg more.
- Tops don’t sit evenly on your shoulders.
If you think you may have a leg length difference book an Initial chiropractic session here now to find out!
