YIN/YANG YOGA
Maria's classes will benefit you to be healthy, grounded, and strong. Inspired by the traditional practice of Hatha yoga, her style is intuitive and contemporary with an added sprinkle of Yin Yoga.
'Yin' Yoga activity is slow, steady with a sense of core softness and surrender. A range of supported postures are held for around 3-5 minutes which penetrates deep into connective tissue, accessing the deep fascia. Even a few minutes of fascial-release work can have a profound effect on your practice, and overall well-being.
The 'Yang' Yoga activity is mobile, strong and dynamic. It will contain a sequence of postures flowing into each other, moving into postures held for around 5 breaths. It develops muscular strength, stamina, flexibility and a robust core.
The beautiful balance between strong Hatha and deep Yin Yoga is designed to not only bring harmony to your day, but with regular practice will help to improve your overall health, strength and flexibility.
FRIDAY 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
TAI CHI QIGONG YOGA
Qigong (pronounced Chee gung) is a type of gentle exercise which originated in China and has been practised for thousands of years.
Gentle movements are done repeatedly in a flowing sequence bringing together mind, body and breath which encourages relaxation and creates a meditative effect. The movements are simple and easy to follow which makes the practice available to most people. They can be done standing or seated or a combination of the two.
When we are mindful we are fully engaged with whatever we’re doing at the present time and we become more focused and aware of our thoughts and feelings. Practicing mindfulness helps us to be more accepting and kinder to ourselves and others. This helps us to lower our stress levels and be more connected to who we want to be.
Practicing Qigong has been shown to have many health benefits including relaxing the mind and body, improving posture and balance, improving breathing and circulation, strengthening the joints and muscles, and improving energy levels and wellbeing. Because it can help to reduce stress it can help with many health conditions that are worsened by stress.
It would be great if you could join me to learn and practise this really enjoyable moving meditation. No equipment is needed, just wear comfortable clothing. We unusually practice in bare feet or non-slip socks. The session will end with a short seated or lying meditation and the studio has mats and blankets that we can use.
