CHIROPRACTIC PRACTITIONER

Maria Jeremy

My name is Maria and I am a chiropractor at Phoenix Health Hub. I have been treating patients since 2020. My journey in becoming a chiropractor began when I started experiencing lower back pain. My best friend recommended that I see a chiropractor. I had no idea what a chiropractor did,all I knew about them was that they treated a bad back. The chiropractor was extremely professional and listened to me and I left knowing more about chiropractic and the cause of my back pain.

After each treatment, I started to feel gradually better and after every treatment felt amazing, like I could move better and at the top of my game. I started to become more interested  in what the chiropractor was doing during the treatments and why. After observing a few times, I saw the benefits first-hand of how effective chiropractic is. It felt right for me to pursue a degree and start working as a chiropractor to reduce people’s pain, as well as keeping people functioning better to prevent their symptoms coming back. This made me more passionate about chiropractic and my love for chiropractic grew and I wanted to learn much more about it.

I dedicated five years of my life to studying this profession and qualified. Even now I am still learning about this ever growing and changing profession and I want to keep learning throughout my professional life to help people and give them a friendly, welcoming and professional service to the best of my ability.

CHIROPRACTIC PRACTITIONER

Mike Cassidy-Hogg

I am a qualified Chiropractor and Personal Trainer, with a special interest in posture improvement and muscle function.

At sixteen I suffered a back injury doing karate and developed sciatica – sharp shooting pain down the back of my left leg.

I was given painkillers and exercises, but six months later, I still had trouble walking. It was then that I discovered chiropractic.

I was so impressed by the results that I decided to become a chiropractor and graduated from the University of Glamorgan with a BSc (Hons) in Chiropractic in 2004.

Having always been interested in exercise science, I then acquired a Personal Training qualification to teach people how to exercise safely and effectively whilst looking after their backs.

I have also created the popular online course The Total Back Pain Solution, the Perfect Posture Kit which gives guaranteed posture improvement in only two weeks, and have produced videos and resources on various health topics.

I live near Brighton, have a beautiful four-year-old daughter called Cadence, and play the drums and guitar.

CHIROPRACTIC PRACTITIONER

Wendy Watkins

I qualified from the University of Glamorgan in 2009 with a Master of Chiropractic and have been treating in Sussex ever since. After 10 years of running my own clinic Uckfield I was excited to join the fabulous team and Phoenix Health Hub.

I have a enjoyed taking part and competing in extreme sports such as skydiving and kitesurfing and more recently sailing and Chiropractic helped me get over various injuries before and since completing my degree in Chiropractic. This is why I love helping people continue to take part in the things they love doing with Chiropractic treatment.

  • MARIA O'CONNOR

    MARIA O'CONNOR

    YOGA INSTRUCTOR

My name is Maria O'Connor (aka 'Little Miss Yoga') and I am a qualified 200 hour Yoga Alliance Practitioner.

My Yoga journey started with a passion for running and weight training. In 2010 I wandered into a Sweaty Betty store in Nottingham, they invited me to a free Yoga class that evening. From that class, I was hooked. The benefit I began to notice in my overall flexibility, energy and core strength astounded me. I discovered a profound improvement in my balance, an awareness of my breath and an awareness of how to align my body correctly during both exercise, and desk work. Later, I discovered more about the benefits for mental wellbeing as well as the physical.

  • Shelly White

    SHELLY WHITE

    YOGA INSTRUCTOR

My name is Shelly White, I live in Uckfield with my partner and 4 children, and I love yoga!

My personal journey with yoga started in 1999 whist on a silent Vipassana meditation retreat in Thailand. I did not know what I had signed up for, with no previous meditation experience, and I didn’t realise at the time what an impact it would have on my life. Over the years my practice grew, (slowly… it was on, then off, then on again….then off again!) but finally became more solid, and I aspired to deepen my knowledge in India. It was there I undertook my first teacher training in 2010, and since then have trained with many wonderful and renowned teachers and have furthered my training in pregnancy yoga, children’s yoga, yin yoga and restorative yoga.

  • Danielle Phoenix

    DANIELLE PHOENIX

    YOGA INSTRUCTOR

I am a certified Hatha yoga teacher trained in the Ashaya Yoga method, which is an alignment-based practice that is focused on 'heart-opening' and has its roots in Tantric philosophy. The style of yoga that I teach involves vinyasa flow that raises the heart rate combined with holding poses for strengthening. All levels are welcome and it is important for each individual to listen to their own body and to practice at their own pace and ability. Adaptations to poses will be included to support this.

  • Elle Procter

    ELLE PROCTER

    YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Elle trained at YogaLondon in London in 2018, and has since taught over 10 regular classes each week in London. Elle comes from a music industry background and loves introducing ‘non-sporty’ people such as herself to the wonderful world of Yoga!

As a Yoga Teacher, her style is her own and is based on Vinyasa Flow, with the traditions of Ashtanga weaved into her classes which brings a certain authenticity to her class.

  • Clare Potts

    CLARE POTTS

    GONG BATH INSTRUCTOR

I am a qualified Gong Practitioner and I have been playing for six years. The International Therapeutic Sound Association and British Register of Complementary Practitioners recognise my qualification.

I originally trained in Fine Art, receiving a degree in painting and printmaking at Chelsea School of Art and subsequently a Master’s degree at The Slade in printmaking. My path toward being a sound therapist was long and winding from that point, but I wanted to find a means of being creative that could have a direct and positive impact on wellbeing. Once I had personally experienced a Gong Bath, after a serious health event and major surgery, I knew that this was my channel. I have since been privileged to provide this form of meditation, relaxation and healing.

  • JANA TAKA

    JANA TAKA

    PILATES INSTRUCTOR

Pilates has been my passion since 2015 I qualified as a Pilates instructor in 2022. Since qualifying I have significantly increased my of knowledge of Pilates theory and techniques employed in these exercises. The reason why Pilates fascinates me is it’s connection between one's body and mind and also it’s ability to build up the core strength through learning and applying precision of movements in my class. The latest addition to my classes has been the application of principles of understanding body fascia to bring the class to another level. For me, the draw of Pilates is it’s connection between the body and mind. It is this that I build on during my continued Pilates journey and is at the centre of my classes.

Qigong (pronounced Chee gung) is a type of gentle exercise which originated in China and has been practised for thousands of years.

Gentle movements are done repeatedly in a flowing sequence bringing together mind, body and breath. The movements are simple and easy to follow which makes the practice available to most people. They can be done standing or seated or a combination of the two.

The practise of qigong becomes a mindful, moving meditation as we focus on the movement and our breathing and let go of thoughts and worries.
